It has now been announced that Vargas, and the gallery, at no point starved or mistreated the dog but that in order for the exhibit to function they had to give off the impression that they did. He has stated that he wanted to illuminate mankind as ‘hypocritical sheep’ by illustrating that a dog that receives no attention suddenly becomes important when it is put in a gallery.
