When Life Gives You Lemons…
Over two tons of lemons rained down on a trio of unsuspecting pedestrians when a truck lost it’s load on an overpass Wednesday afternoon.
The truck collided with a guard rail causing it’s cargo of lemons to pour onto the roadway below. The largest highway running through Buenos Aires, 9 de Julio is normally heavily with cars, buses, motorcycles and foot traffic, but was miraculously clear when the lemons rained down.
A group of curious onlookers quickly grew into a scavenging crowd, many carrying empty bags to be filled with a load of fresh lemons. Police tried to prevent the theft of lemons, even going so far as to arrest one man on charges of resisting authority. Eventually though they relented and those gathered were allowed to take a load of lemons home. With the road blocked for over two hours and mounting traffic problems citywide, the authorities had little choice. It was the fastest way to clear the road.
In the early evening lemon stands appeared throughout the city, where boxes of lemons were sold for as little as 10 pesos.
"I did more than 100 pesos," a young boy said before laughing at his "sweet" success.

Taking the Piss
Throughout Buenos Aires, thousands of graying women joyfully pee into plastic containers at all hours of the day. It isn’t exactly the picture postcard image that Argentina’s Secretariat of Tourism wants shared, but from these ladies comes the most profitable product for export in Argentina.
Two Bed, Two Bath and Walking Distance to a Plaza
The current housing crisis has caused people throughout Argentina to homestead in abandoned buildings. In Santa Fe a group of men have taken the squatting epidemic to a new level by seizing a community plaza and constructing a pair of houses on it.
