McCain Gets Hard on Lobbyists
Well that didn’t take long. A Republican with a sex scandal.
Both the Washington Post and the NY Times are reporting that McCain had an awfully close relationship with a lobbyist before his presidential run in 2000. So close in fact, that his aides had to step in and save him from himself:
“Aides to Sen. John McCain confronted a female telecommunications lobbyist in late 1999 and asked her to distance herself from the senator during the presidential campaign he was about to launch, according to one of McCain’s longest-serving political strategists.”
Republican sex scandals of late have been fairly deviant affairs. Senate pages, bathroom stalls, cross dressing and wide stances. Now we have a Republican sex scandle involving an adult woman.
McCain is a maverick.
